A man was ejected from his bicycle and killed after he was struck by a pickup truck while he was riding along the side of a road in Osceola County.
The accident took place on Tuesday, August 2, at around 6:26 a.m. on County Road 525/Kissimmee Park Road in Osceola County.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck being driven by a 56-year-old Saint Cloud man was traveling eastbound on CR 525, just east of the road’s intersection with Lake Tohopekaliga Road.
The bicyclist, who was not carrying identification at the time and has not yet been identified, was traveling eastbound on CR 525, just ahead of the pickup truck, when it was struck from behind. The man riding the bicycle was ejected onto the shoulder.
He was transported to HCA Florida Healthcare Osceola, where he was pronounced deceased.
According to FHP, the man was wearing a helmet during the crash, but a preliminary examination indicated that the bicycle did not have any lights.
