A 7-year-old girl was killed after the vehicle in which she was riding stopped and was struck by another vehicle that did not slow down for traffic ahead.
The fatal accident took place on Wednesday, August 3, around 11 a.m. on Interstate 4, near mile marker 101 in Lake Mary. According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a sedan being driven by a 31-year-old Jacksonville man was slowing to a stop for traffic ahead, near the highway’s interchange with State Road 46.
A 21-year-old Port Orange Man who was driving an SUV failed to see that traffic ahead was stopped and plowed into the back of the sedan.
Both the driver and front-seat passenger, a 32-year-old woman from Jacksonville, received minor injuries.
The child riding in the vehicle, a 7-year-old girl from Jacksonville, was transported by helicopter to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
