Suspect arrested in shooting that claimed life of 23-year-old

A suspect has been arrested and charged with first degree murder in a shooting that claimed the life of a 23-year-old man in Orange County on Tuesday.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, 19-year-old Malik Fisher has been arrested and charged with first degree murder in the death of Demonte Cherry, who was found suffering from gunshot wounds on Tuesday, August 9.

On that morning, at around 11:05 a.m., deputies responded to the 7300 block of Holly Creek Road in reference to a shooting.

Cherry was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Fisher is currently being held at the Orange County Jail, according to jail records.
