DeLand police looking for man wanted in battering of pregnant woman

The DeLand Police Department is asking the public for help locating a man who is wanted on a slew of charges, including aggravated battery on a pregnant woman.

According to DPD, 22-year-old Omar O. Thomas was last seen in Lake County on Thursday, August 11.

Authorities say that Thomas may be traveling in a silver, 2010 Nissan Rouge with Florida license plate 67ABXW.

Police say that Thomas was last seen traveling westbound in Lake County, but may have returned to the DeLand area at some point.

“We do not believe there is any danger to the general public at this time,” reads a statement from DPD.

Thomas is wanted on several charges, including aggravated battery on a pregnant person, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and carjacking with a deadly weapon, among others.
