71-year-old bicyclist killed in hit-and-run accident on Kirkman Road

A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene of an accident that took place on Kirkman Road last night.

The fatal accident took place on Monday, August 15, at 8:27 p.m. just south of Washington Street on Kirkman Road in Orlando.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle struck a 71-year-old Orlando man while he was riding his bike, before it fled the scene.

The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased.

FHP Traffic Homicide Investigators are currently working to obtain additional information on the suspect, but say they have found a car part in the area of the collision. They believe the car part came from a silver, 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara that could have front left damage and a missing car part from the left front door or lower door panel.
