Pedestrian struck, run over in hit-and-run accident on U.S. 92

A 23-year-old Flagler Beach man was killed on Tuesday morning after he was struck by a vehicle on U.S. 92 that fled the scene.

The accident took place at around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was walking westbound on the inside lane of U.S. Highway 92 when he was struck by a 2014 Nissan Sentra.

After the impact, the man was propelled into the other lanes of traffic, where he was run over by a 2019 Chevy Silverado. Authorities believe the pedestrian was run over by additional vehicles, but they are unsure how many.

Although the Silverado and its driver, a 42-year-old Deltona man, remained on scene, the Nissan left the scene. Later on Tuesday, troopers were able to locate the vehicle and secure it as evidence.

Troopers are currently following leads to identify the driver who fled. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact the Central Florida Crimline at 800-737-2213.
