31-year-old motorcyclist killed after pickup truck makes U-Turn on John Young Parkway

A 31-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle struck a pickup truck that was attempting a U-Turn on a busy Orlando roadway this morning.

The fatal accident took place around 6:24 a.m. on Thursday near the intersection of S. John Young Parkway and W. Oak Ridge Road. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2020 Dodge Ram 1500 being driven by a 61-year-old Orlando man was stopped in the northbound u-turn lane of John Young Parkway, just north of Oak Ridge Road, when he began to a make a u-turn to travel southbound on the highway.

As the man made a u-turn, he turned into the direct path of a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R750 being driven by the motorcyclist, who was from Orlando.

The man driving the pickup truck was not injured and remained on the scene.

The motorcyclist was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
