Dorothy Shields

Dorothy Joan (Dot) Shields of Winter Garden, FL formerly of Murrells Inlet, SC and Poughkeepsie, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the age of 86.

Born to Catherine and Andrew Raziano in Newark, NJ on August 27, 1936. Dot was the youngest of 7 children; John, Michael, Ben and Joseph Raziano, Ann Rodgers and Angela Gilchrist. Dot graduated from Passaic High School in Passaic, NJ in 1954.

Preceded in death by her parents, and 5 of her siblings, she is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Charles R. Shields, her sons Scott Woodruff of Austin, TX and Christopher Woodruff of San Rafael, CA. Step Children, Michael (Lauren), Christine, Kelly (James) Rhodes and Glen (Maksim) Shields as well as grandchildren, Jack, Josh, Cassidy and Shelby Woodruff, Ryan, Paige and Brennan Shields.

Dot worked for IBM for 19 years and she happily retired in 1998 from the Guest Services Department. It was during her time at IBM that she met a group of women and lifelong friends that became known as the “Magnolias”, Dot loved spending time with the girls and they had many days filled with laughter and love. Dot had many interests and hobbies including golf, bowling, arts and crafts and traveling. She also enjoyed her time volunteering at Brookgreen Gardens, Myrtle Beach, SC. Those who loved Dot also knew she had a lifelong crush on Neil Diamond and she and Charlie would joke about who she “loved” more.

A Memorial Service will be held on October 7, 2022 from 2-4 pm at the Winter Oaks Funeral Home and Cremations, 1132 E. Plant St. Winter Garden, FL 34787
