School shooting threat at Lyman High School deemed non-credible by police

Law enforcement authorities and school officials determined that a threat made on social media about Lyman High School was “non-credible.”

The threats, which were issued on Sunday, September 11, had parents and students worried about attending school on Monday.

“Law enforcement was able to quickly investigate and make contact with the individuals involved and determine that the threat was non-credible,” reads a message from LHS Principal Michael Hunter.

The school issued a notification to students and parents after learning of the social media message in question on Sunday. School officials contacted the Longwood Police Department and Seminole County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the post.

The original social media post read “Aryan is shooting up Lyman High School at exactly lunch so if u don’t wanna end up 6ft I suggest skipping ur middle day meal.” Although the message was distributed through SnapChat originally, multiple versions of the message were recirculated through social media platforms on Sunday evening.

“These situations can be incredibly scary, but I remain thankful for our community and local Law Enforcement,” said Principal Hunter.
