A 28-year-old Orlando man who crashed his car into an embankment off the Florida Turnpike, was struck by a car and killed as he was attempting to cross the highway’s northbound lanes.
The fatal accident took place on Thursday, September 8, at around 9:45 p.m., near mile marker 276 on the turnpike.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the Orlando man was driving a 2015 Acura northbound on County Road 455 when, for unknown reasons, he lost control and ran off the roadway.
The man’s vehicle entered an embankment and collided with the southbound shoulder of the turnpike.
After the crash, the man exited his vehicle, walked across the southbound lanes of the turnpike, crossed the concrete median, and then entered the northbound lanes.
Upon entering the inside northbound lane, the man was struck by a 2020 Kia Soul being driven by a 24-year-old Gainesville woman. The man was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The female driver stayed on the scene and was not injured in the accident.
