Carlene Louise Lemcke

Carlene Louise Lemcke, daughter of the late Carl and Louise Brandt and sister of the late Connie Hurlebaus, passed peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2022 surrounded in love by her family. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Lemcke, three children, Carrie (Brian) Tedford, Curtis (Shar) Lemcke and David (Jodi) Lemcke, She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Carlene was born on June 25, 1942 in Miami, Florida. As a small child, her father and grandfather moved the family to Livingston, Montana, where they built the Brandt’s Motel. A few years later, they moved back to Florida and settled in Orlando where Carlene grew up and graduated from Edgewater High School in 1960. Carlene was blessed with many childhood friends whom she stayed close to throughout her life. As a teenager, Carlene was a member of the Order of the Rainbow and her daughter, Carrie, followed in her footsteps.

In her early adult life, Carlene joined the sorority Beta Sigma Phi. Carlene’s sorority sisters have been at her side throughout her life and recently presented Carlene with her 60th anniversary pin at a surprise event at her house.

In the summer of 1962, Carlene met the love of her life Jerry. It was love at first sight and they were soon married that November. They moved to Chicago where their first two children, Carrie and Curtis, were born. They then relocated to Orlando, Florida where their third child, David, was born. Carlene and Jerry raised their kids in Orlando and all three graduated from Boone High School (rival to Carlene’s Edgewater High). Carlene was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carlene and Jerry have spent the last 18 years in Lutheran Haven in Oviedo, Florida where they have made many friends who have become family. Carlene and Jerry have been members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Orlando, Florida for 55 years.

Carlene’s Celebration of Life service will be at Prince of Peace on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 3pm. All are welcome.
