Orlando nursing home evacuated after heavy flooding

Residents of an Orlando nursing home were evacuated by emergency personnel after their facility became flooded this morning.

Avante, which is located at 2000 N Semoran Boulevard, was evacuated by Orange County Fire Rescue crews this morning after rising flood waters entered the building.

Residents were removed on stretchers and placed into ambulances and Lynx buses to be transported to local shelters.

The evacuation follows similar reports of flooding around Orange and Osceola counties.

In Kissimmee, multiple thoroughfares throughout the area are completely under water. Osceola emergency crews are currently responding to multiple calls of residents stranded in cars and homes that are surrounded by water.
