Skydiver killed in DeLand after parachute malfunctions

A skydiver was killed in the city of DeLand after his parachute malfunctioned during a jump.

According to the DeLand Police Department, units are currently on the scene at DeLand Airport, which is located at 1000 Flight Line Boulevard, following calls regarding a skydiving accident.

Police say that a male skydiver, who has not been identified, was declared deceased after he made a hard landing that was caused by a parachute malfunction.

No additional information regarding the accident was available as of 1:15 p.m.
