Multiple Orange County roads still closed due to flooding

Multiple roads in Orange County are still closed due to historic levels of flooding brought on by Hurricane Ian.

During a hurricane update provided by the county on Monday, October 3, officials provided details on the ongoing recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Ian last week.

Currently, there are five roads in Orange County that continue to be closed due to flooding. Those include Rouse Road north of Buck Road, Reams Road, Lake Elleanor Drive, Lake Underhill at the Econ Trail, and Buck Road, west of Rouse Road.

Orange County emergency personnel are advising residents to steer clear of flooded roads, as hundreds of vehicles have sustained water damage as a result of water levels rising to historic heights.

In addition to the roads, Orange County Parks and Recreation facilities are still closed until further notice. That includes the South Econ Recreation Center, the Silver Star Recreation Center, Moss, West Beach Park, Dr. Phillips Park, and Blanchard Park/Little Econ Trail, among others.

Over the weekend, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office shared helicopter video of the devastating flood waters, which have submerged homes and vehicles across the county.
