Winter Park officials lift water usage advisory

The city of Winter Park has lifted a water usage advisory that was issued last week in light of massive flooding caused by Hurricane Ian.

The Winter Park Water and Wastewater Utilities Department ended the water conservation request that it issued on October 5 after Hurricane Ian caused overflows in the city’s sewer system.

After multiple days of customer conservation and water recession, the water level in the city’s sanitary sewer system has reduced enough for utility customers to return to normal water use.

City officials say that lift stations are still seeing twice the amount of water they normally pump, so, while limiting indoor water use is no longer needed, customers should always practice water conservation efforts.

For more information about water conservation and rebates available to Winter Park utility customers, visit the City of Winter Park water conservation website. For additional questions or concerns, contact the Water & Wastewater Utilities Department at 407-599-3219.
