13-year-old boy critically injured after being struck by SUV on Orange County road

A 13-year-old boy was critically injured after he was struck by a vehicle this morning.

The accident took place around 9:10 a.m. on Tuessday near the intersection of Rio Grande Avenue and 29th Street in Orlando. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2020 Chevy Equinox being driven by a 22-year-old Orlando man was traveling northbound on Rio Grande Avenue, just north of 29th Street.

The teenager, who is from Orlando, entered the inside lane of the highway, in the direct path of the SUV. The front of the SUV collided with the teenager, who was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
