Free tree for Winter Park residents

The city of Winter Park Urban Forestry Division is partnering with the National Arbor Day Foundation and Florida Forest Service to offer residents of Winter Park a free tree.

To apply for a free tree, residents may visit the Urban Forestry webpage through the city of Winter Park website. Trees are available through the end of November.

Residents have the option to choose from several different tree species, including bald cypress, sweetbay magnolia, and live oak. The one-gallon tree will be delivered directly to each resident’s doorstep, along with instructions on planting and care.

City officials say that fall is the best time for replanting trees, as some were lost during Hurricane Ian.

The National Arbor Day Foundation is the world’s largest membership non-profit dedicated to planting trees. Its Community Canopy Program is designed to offer cities an easy solution for providing trees to residents in their communities.
