Aerospace, mass transit electronics company relocating California headquarters to Orlando

An aerospace and mass transit electronics juggernaut has plans to move its California headquarters to a newly constructed, multi-million dollar facility in Orlando.

Astronics Test Systems will move its headquarters from Irvine, California to Orlando.

Astronics creates power, connectivity, lighting, structure, test, and other technologies that are implemented in mission critical systems, including avionics and military systems.

Currently, Astronics employs over 100 Orlando-area residents and has plans to add 60 new local hires over the next two years.

Astronics is constructing a 70,000-square-foot, built-to-suit facility in the Central Florida Research Park and investing $13 million in the new headquarters, positioning the company for optimal customer support, increased capacity and future growth.

“The company’s decision to relocate its headquarters from California to Central Florida is a big win for our region. It represents more momentum of a recent trend of West Coast companies choosing to Orlando due to the ease of doing business, robust talent pool, innovation ecosystem and density of MS&T and defense industry activity,” reads a statement from the Orlando Economic Partnership. “Not only is Orlando being increasingly recognized by aerospace and defense companies due to its history helping the nation win the space race, but it is also being recognized as a dynamic destination for headquarters locations.”
