Panera near UCF closes for multiple days after roaches found throughout kitchen

A Panera Bread located near the University of Central Florida was forced to temporarily close its doors after a health inspector found multiple violations, including the presence of roaches.

On Tuesday, October 25, the restaurant, which is located at 11472 University Boulevard, was forced to temporarily close after a health inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation cited seven food health code violations.

Among the violations were three considered high priority, including the presence of live roaches. During the inspection, over two dozen live roaches were spotted behind bakers’ racks, ovens, microwaves, and other parts of the kitchen. Additionally, 27 dead roaches and 5 egg sacks were found under the dish machine, prep tables, and other areas.

On Thursday, October 27, the business was revisited by the inspector and failed once again. During the reinspection, multiple live roaches were found and three more dead roaches, as well as one egg sack, were also found.

The restaurant was reinspected again on Thursday, October 27, and was permitted to reopen after no violations were found.
