Blue-green algae bloom alert issued for Lake Mann

Florida Department of Health Officials in Orange County have issued a blue-green algae bloom alert for Lake Mann.

The alert was issued in response to a water sample taken at the lake on April 6 by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Blue-green algae blooms occur when rapid growth of algae leads to an accumulation of individual cells that discolor water and often produce floating mats that emit unpleasant odors.

If you have other health questions or concerns about blue-green algae blooms, call the Florida Department of Health in Orange County Algal Bloom Information Line at 407-723-5216.
