A man was killed while he was attempting to cross State Road 417 after he was struck by an Osceola County Sheriff’s Office vehicle this morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place at around 5:3 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, near mile marker 11 of SR 417.
An Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputy was driving his marked Dodge Charger southbound on the inside lane of the highway this morning when a pedestrian, who has not been identified, entered the path of the vehicle.
The pedestrian was walking from the median through the southbound lanes, according to the FHP report.
After the pedestrian was struck by the deputy’s vehicle, he was propelled into the path of a 2016 Chevy Silverado and struck again.
The deputy and the driver of the Silverado, a 68-year-old Orlando man, were not injured in the accident and remained on the scene.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased.
Traffic Homicide Investigators are still working to determine the identity of the man who was killed.
