A Popeyes located next to multiple chicken restaurants in Winter Park has permanently closed its location.
Situated at the intersection of Fairbanks Avenue and Orlando Avenue, Popeye’s #110 closed its doors this month after over 20 years in business.
No reason was given for the closure.
Although it was one of the first fried chicken restaurants along the popular stretch in Winter Park, in the two decades since its opening, Popeyes has seen a rise of competition in the area.
That includes Chicken Guy, a franchise operated by chef Guy Fieri that opened its doors in the past year, as well as Chick-Fil-A and PDQ, which both opened just a few blocks away within the past five years.
Just a few blocks to the east, both The Coop and JAM Hot Chicken serve up their own slue of chicken dishes.
Popeyes currently operates a collection of additional establishments nearby, including one on Lee Road and another along N Orange Blossom Trail.
