The city of Orlando is currently accepting artist submissions for a new exhibit that will celebrate Black History Month at Orlando City Hall.
On Monday, the city announced that it is seeking local visual artists to display their artwork in the terrace gallery at Orlando City Hall from Friday, February 3, through Sunday, April 30, 2023.
The artworks in question must celebrate Black History Month.
“Art is an intrinsic part of Black heritage and culture, and the city is offering an opportunity for artists to showcase the diverse richness of its history through visual arts,” reads a statement issued by city officials.
To be considered, artwork must be submitted by Tuesday, January 3, at 11:59 p.m. The selected artists will be notified via email with the date and time to deliver their artwork to City Hall.
Each submission must contain an artist biography or resume, photos of a minimum of five pieces of artwork in JPG format, descriptions of each piece of artwork, and each submission must be labeled with the name of the artist, the title, the year it was created, measurements, and the medium.
Artists will be selected based on the appropriateness of their proposal to the project.
