Exploria Stadium hosting opening U.S. women’s team, other nations for SheBelieves Cup

Exploria Stadium will play host to a pair of matches for the eighth annual SheBelieves Cup.

The SheBelieves Cup will take place from February 16 to February 22, 2023, with two matches scheduled for February 16.

In the first match, Japan will take on Brazil at 4 p.m. That match will be followed by a match between the United States National Women’s Team and Canada at 7 p.m. The matches in downtown Orlando will serve as the opening for the tournament.

All four nations participating in this year’s tournament are set to take part in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup next summer. The U.S. women’s team is ranked number 1, while Canada is ranked number 6, Brazil is ranked number 9, and Japan is ranked number 11.

Orlando Pride and Orlando City will receive exclusive pre-sale access to tickets starting at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 16. That sale will be available through 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20.

The tournament serves as World Cup preparation for all the teams, who will compete five months later in the competition when it takes place in Australia and New Zealand. The 2023 edition of SheBelieves will mark the fourth time the competition will be played in downtown Orlando. In 2021, due to COVID-19 protocols, the entirety of 2021 SheBelieves Cup was held at Exploria Stadium.

For its 2023 edition, the tournament will return to its traditional three-venue format with matches played at Exploria Stadium, GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee and Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

The six-game tournament was first played in 2016. The USA won the inaugural edition and France won in 2017. The USA won again in 2018 and England won in 2019. Since then, the United States has won the 2020, 2021, and 2022 installments of the cup.
