Walt Disney World Imagineers shared an update on a new attraction inspired by the animated film Moana.
The minds behind Journey of Water, the new attraction scheduled to open in 2023, announced a “momentous milestone” in the development of the new section within EPCOT with the addition of Te Fiti, a larger-than-life character from the movie.
“This morning, our project team at Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana welcomed Te Fiti at her position along the trail,” reads a social media post from the Walt Disney World Imagineering group. “Congratulations to the team of Imagineers and all of our partners that made this happen! Keep following along as we continue to share updates from Journey of Water as part of the World Nature neighborhood of EPCOT.”
According to the company, Journey of Water will take visitors along a self-guided, outdoor trail to interact with water as it “travels from the sky to the oceans and back again.”
The attraction is scheduled to open with “World Nature,” a new EPCOT section dedicated to “understanding and preserving the beauty and balance of the natural world.”
The attraction is scheduled to open in late 2023, according to the company.
