36-year-old arrested for killing wife, trafficking cocaine in Altamonte Springs apartment

A 36-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his wife in their Altamonte Springs apartment.

Jonathan Jiles was arrested by the Altamonte Springs Police Department on Tuesday, December 20, in connection with the murder of his wife, Brandi Jiles.

Officers from ASPD and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Goldelm at Charter Pointe Apartments at around 4:33 a.m. after receiving a call regarding a shooting with injuries.

Upon arrival, officers located Brandi Jiles laying in the hallway in front of the master bedroom. Jiles was suffering from a single gunshot wound, but was conscious and alert. Emergency personnel provided aid to the Jiles until she was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

While officers were providing aid to the victim, Jonathan Jiles emerged from the master bedroom closet. He was transported to the Seminole County Jail for being in possession of a firearm, despite having been convicted of multiple felonies over the past 15 years.

Police returned to the apartment after obtaining a search warrant and, during execution of the warrant, recovered dozens of grams of marijuana, cocaine, MDMA, and crack cocaine. Additionally, $6,900 in US currency was recovered.

As a result of their findings, Jonathan Jiles was charged with second degree murder, trafficking cocaine and MDMA, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

The Jiles were married during a ceremony at Treasure Island in November 2021 and had just celebrated their first anniversary.

Friends and family of Brandi Jiles expressed an outpouring of support through social media since learning the news of her passing.

“My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Shine bright baby, we all know u are Brandi Jiles,” said Erin Riedel.

“Brandi Jiles, you were so sweet and genuine,” said Demeka Rushing Noble.

“My heart is breaking with this news, I just can’t believe it. Fly high beautiful, you will be missed,” said Holly McNulty.
