I-Drive accident claims life of motorcyclist

A 53-year-old Orlando man was killed after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a sign on International Drive.

The fatal accident took place at around 2:25 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, near the intersection of International Drive and Hawaiian Court.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving his 2013 Harley Davidson Street Glide southbound on International Drive, approaching the intersection with Hawaiian Court in the inside lane.

For unknown reasons, the rider failed to maintain control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve and proceeded in a southeast direction.

As a result, the front of the motorcycle struck a concrete curb and continued off the roadway until it collided with a sign support.

The man was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
