A blue-green algae alert has been issued for Lake Arnold in light of water samples taken earlier this week.
The Florida Department of Health in Orange County issued the alert on Tuesday in response to a water sample taken on Monday, January 22.
Blooms have the potential to produce toxins and bloom conditions are dynamic and could change at any time.
The department advises visitors to avoid swimming, wading, or using personal watercraft at the lake. Pets and livestock should be kept away from the waters, and no shellfish should be consumed from the lake.
To report a bloom to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, contact the toll-free hotline at 855-305-3903, or report it online.
