VIDEO: Suspects wanted in murder of 18-year-old at Sanford apartments

The Sanford Police Department has released new video and photos of a group of individuals suspected of killing an 18-year-old at a local apartment complex.

On Wednesday, police released video and photos of suspects wanted in connection with a shooting at the Hatteras Sound Apartments on November 20, 2022, that claimed the life of Isaiah Diaz and left two other victims injured.

The video shows two separate scenes at the apartments, which are located at 13000 Island Bay Circle in Sanford. The first portion of the video was taken on November 14 and, according to police, shows suspects moving in a similar manner to those who are wanted for the shooting just a week later.

“It appears that a number of the suspects possibly attempted the shooting or some other similar act in the days prior to November 20, 2022,” reads a statement issued by the Sanford Police Department. “Those suspects were captured on surveillance openly carrying firearms and moving in the same, calculated manner displayed the day of the homicide.”

On that day, Sanford Police officers were called to the scene of a possible shooting at around 1:30 p.m. Upon arrival, police located a vehicle parked in the parking lot of the complex that showed signs of damage caused by gunfire. Inside the vehicle, officers located Diaz, who was dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Two additional victims were located and one of them was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Through the course of their investigation, investigators determined that multiple subjects approached the vehicle with semi-automatic firearms and opened fire on the vehicle and its occupants.

Authorities say there are at least six suspects all appearing t o be males in their late teens or early 20s.
