VIDEO: Shootout between OPD and man who killed his 7-year-old boy, girlfriend’s child, and mother

The Orlando Police Department released body camera footage showing a shootout between officers and a man who, just moments before, murdered his 7-year-old child, his girlfriend’s child, and her mother.

On Wednesday, April 12, Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith provided additional details about multiple homicides that took place in Orlando over Easter weekend, including one that involved an officer-involved shooting.

During that incident, Orlando Police Department officers responded to a home in the 600 block of Grand Street at around 2:25 a.m. after receiving calls in reference to a domestic violence incident.

In body camera video, police are seen arriving at the scene and establishing a perimeter while hearing shots from inside a home.

As they set up, the suspect, who has since been identified as Lacorvis Tamar Daley, walks out of the front entrance of the home. The officers attempt to issue commands before Daley begins opening fire.

Officers are seen taking cover behind their patrol vehicles while they return fire with multiple shots. Daley walks towards officers and eventually lays on the street after he is shot multiple times.

Daley was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

When police entered the home, they found three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds, including a child. The child was transported by officers to a local hospital. However, all three individuals were pronounced deceased.

The victims have since been identified as 7-year-old Cameron Bouie, who was Daley’s son, 13-year-old Damionna Reed, who was the daughter of his girlfriend, and 69-year-old Carole Fulmore, who was his girlfriend’s mother.

Chief Smith says the officers involved in the shootings were not injured and will be on paid administrative leave pending an independent review by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and State Attorney’s office.

On Monday, Orange County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Maria Vazquez issued a statement on Bouie and Reed, who were both students in the Orange County district.

“My prayers and deepest sympathies go out to the families of Damionna Reed of OCPS ACE and Cameron Bouie from Pine Hills Elementary. This is the third child who has died from Pine Hills Elementary in the last three months, the second from senseless gun violence,” said Vazquez.

Fulmore had just celebrated her granddaughter’s prom night just hours before. She also posted a statement on social media indicating that April 8 was the 35th anniversary of her mother’s death.

Daley was a four-time convicted felon and had previously been arrested for domestic violence. In 2010, he was convicted of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and served a three-year prison sentence as a result.

Earlier this month, a 7-year-old was killed while riding a bike in Pine Hills. In February, 9-year-old T’Yonna Major was among three individuals who was killed during two separate shootings a few hours apart in Pine Hills.
