From $1 ticket to $3 million jackpot: Altamonte Springs man claims MEGA MILLIONS prize

A 49-year-old Altamonte Springs man was one of two individuals who claimed prizes from the MEGA MILLIONS draw game this week.

According to a press release from the Florida Lottery, Nikolai Whiters claimed a second-tier prize through the MEGA MILLIONS draw game this week.

Whiters’ purchased his $3 million winning Quick Pick ticket for the January 10, 2023 drawing at the Circle K located at 320 West State Road 434 in Winter Springs. The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

Whiters’ winning ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers but did not match the Mega Ball number. Had he matched the Mega Ball number (17), he would have been entitled to a $20 million prize. Just a week prior, the jackpot reached over $1 billion before it was hit on January 13.

The next MEGA MILLIONS drawing will be held on Friday, May 12, at 11 p.m. The estimated jackpot is $99 million, according to the Florida Lottery.
