Orlando makes list of Top 100 Best Places to Live in U.S.

Orlando was one of four cities in Florida, including two in Orange County, that ranked in the top 100 best places to live in the United States, according to a report by a website that ranks small and medium-sized cities by livability.

Earlier this year, Livability.com released its list of The Top 100 Best Places to Live in the U.S. The list is the 10th edition produced by the website, which ranks livable small and mid-sized cities across the country.

According to the report, Orlando ranked 92nd on the list based on its LivScore. Among the eight factors listed, Orlando received the most points for Transportation (80), Economy (73), and Amenities (68). Its lowest scores came in Health (24), Environment (27), and Safety (24).

Unlike most lists of this magnitude, Livability.com only considers cities with populations between 75,000 and 500,000, which means that cities like Miami, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles were left off.

“Our list of the Best Places to Live is the U.S. recognizes the unsung (or at least less-sung) awesomeness of the many places outside of our largest metros – the cities where most Americans create dream careers, build families, launch businesses, and lead meaningful lives,” reads the report.

The list is also limited to cities with a median home value of $500,000 or less.

“As home prices hit historical highs and inflation continues to rise, we laud the cities that are growing wages and home values while maintaining an affordable cost of living, including reasonable rent and home prices relative to local income,” says the company in its report.

To compile its list, Livability.com partnered with Applied Geographic Solutions and used nearly 100 data points as well as an algorithm to take into account measures of a city’s economy, housing, cost of living, amenities, transportation, environment, safety, education, and health.

In addition to Orlando, three other cities in Florida made the list. That includes St. Petersburg, which ranked 43rd, as well as Fort Lauderdale, which ranked 46th. Alafaya, which is located in east Orange County, ranked 45th on the list.

This year, the city of Orlando has received recognition across a variety of similarly ranked lists.

Last month, Wallethub ranked Orlando as the best city for summer jobs, the second best city for recreation, and the 40th best place to rent in America.

In May, Orlando was named the best large city in which to start a business by WalletHub.

Last October, the City Beautiful was named the second best ‘Foodie City’ in the nation by WalletHub.
