Violeta B Guillermo

Violeta B Guillermo answered God’s call to Heaven on Saturday, June 18, 2022. Violeta was born in Manila, Philippines on November 2, 1941. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Education at Far Eastern University and started her teaching career at Altura Elementary School in Manila. Shortly after, Violeta applied and was offered a teaching position in the U.S. in 1968 for the Pontiac Public elementary school district in Michigan. She then went to Flint to teach for a parochial school. The majority of her teaching career was spent in the Flint Beecher Elementary school district. She was loved by many staff, students, and their parents. They loved their Mrs. G.

Violeta’s love for kids continued as she cared for children in her neighborhood when she retired in Florida. Many working parents had peace of mind knowing that Violeta was taking good care of their children. And she also took wonderful care of her grandchildren when they were young.

Violeta was known for cooking delicious Filipino dishes. She co-owned a Filipino restaurant in Flint with her husband and dear close friends for a short duration of time. She also made meals for families when they needed help and always had a freezer full of lumpia egg rolls ready for anyone who wanted them for a meal or party.

During early retirement, Violeta enjoyed traveling with her family, siblings, and relatives to visit different countries. She was known for her kindness, generosity, infectious laugh, and beautiful smile that lit up the room wherever she would go. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and prayed the Rosary daily. One of Violeta’s most memorable trips was her pilgrimage to Fatima and Lourdes. She has now finished her personal pilgrimage and race laid out by the loving God in the name of Jesus where she is now in Eternal paradise.

Violeta is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Virgilio Guillermo; children, Verna (Dave), Vernon (Grace); grandchildren, Shea, Mya, Alyssa; siblings, Nora (Manuel) Guerrero, Edgar (Lonie) Batangan, Ruben (Dorie) Batangan, Linda (Primo) Costes, Wally (Ronita) Batangan; and beloved nephews, nieces and their families.

A gathering of family and friends for Violeta will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 1413 S Semoran Blvd. Orlando, FL 32807.
