The second and third cases of Monkeypox were reported in Seminole County this week.
On Monday, the Florida Department of Health officials updated their Reportable Diseases Frequency Report to show two new cases of Monkeypox in Seminole County.
Last week, the first case of Monkeypox in Central Florida was reported in Orange County.
The three cases are the only reported throughout Central Florida, including Osceola, Volusia, Sumter, Lake, Marion, and Alachua counties, among others.
Central Florida now accounts for around a third of the reported cases in the state of Florida, which currently has ten reported cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC says that across the United States, approximately 111 cases of Monkeypox have been reported.
Around 60 of those cases have been reported in California, Illinois, and New York, according to the CDC.
The Monkeypox virus produces symptoms similar to small pox, including fever, headache, muscle pain, chills and fatigue. Symptoms are generally milder and far less fatal than in small pox cases.
