Lizzy McCormack’s closing after 18 years, says ‘illogical to maintain’ bar in downtown Orlando

Lizzy McCormack’s is closing its Irish bar after an 18-year run in downtown Orlando, citing rising rent costs and decreased demand.

Located at 55 N. Orange Avenue, the bar announced that it will close its doors for good on Sunday, September 25. Although the business is looking for a new location, it says it is “illogical to maintain a drinkery in downtown Orlando,” citing a rent increase and “decreasing demand.”

“We’re putting Lizzy’s on the shelf for a bit,” reads a social media post.

Lizzy McCormack’s joins a growing list of mainstays that have closed up shop in downtown Orlando recently.

That list includes Barbarella, which closed its doors at the end of February after a 37-year run at its downtown Orlando location.

Last month, Finnhenry’s was replaced by Parlay’s after a multi-year run in its popular Orange Avenue location.

Lizzy McCormack’s opened its doors on November 14, 2004. The business will still maintain a catering license and offer bartending services for private events.

“We’ll bring the bar to you, pudding shots and all,” reads a social media post from the business.
