Louise Carter Borsoi

Louise Carter Borsoi was born in Orlando on November 17, 1943, and died peacefully in Orlando on October 22, 2022, after a long illness.

Louise loved life and loved people. She had many friends, both here and abroad, and will be remembered as someone who brought a sparkle to any gathering. She was a foreign language teacher who taught in Orange and Seminole County high schools, Valencia, and Rollins. Her students called her tough only to reach out and thank her years later for everything they learned. Louise was an outstanding teacher and scholar, awarded six summer research grants to universities, such as Emory and the University of Virginia. In 1991 she was named a National Endowment for the Humanities/Readers Digest Teacher-Scholar for the State of Florida and was invited to the nation’s capital to receive the award. Louise was a catalyst for organizing groups, leading two trips to the Iberian Peninsula and chairing Boone High School’s Class of 1961 reunion. She was a graduate of FSU and University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana.

She spent many years volunteering with the Junior League, was an active member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, participated in multiple book clubs, and loved playing cards, especially bridge. She was famous for bringing a quiche to anyone in a crisis and insisted balsamic dressings only went on sweet salads. You spotted the hat before you spotted Louise. She always offered friends multiple choices of coffee when they came over – ever the hostess. She always wished the best for everyone, and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her husband Edward Borsoi, her daughter Carla Borsoi, her son Alexander Borsoi, and two granddaughters, Grace and Vivianne Reed.
