Betsy Barrett Criswell

Betsy Barrett Criswell, 71, Casselberry, FL died Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Betsy was born August 29, 1951 in Saltville, VA to Charles Davis & Evelyn Spence Davis. Being raised an “army brat”, Betsy traveled the world with her family, living in Germany, Alaska, New Jersey & Florida to name a few. She moved to Florida permanently in 1962, where she was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Pine Hills, Florida. She later attended Florida Technological University (now known as UCF).

Betsy met the absolute love of her life, Dick, and they married June 29, 1975. To all who had known them, Betsy was always referred by Dick as his Princess. They soon had two sons, Matthew and Patrick, whom she loved unconditionally and nurtured to the day she passed. Although the love of her life passed away way too soon, Betsy was blessed with many grandchildren to fill her days with beautiful memories. Betsy was so proud of her grandchildren. She was never too shy to share a story or a picture with a friend of her grandchildren.

While her boys were young, Betsy babysat as a part time job. The kids she took care of were like family to Betsy and Dick. Many today she still kept in touch with! Once the boys were older, Betsy and her long time best friend “girlfriend” as she would call her- opened a catering business. They grew an extremely successful business and had a blast. After selling their business, Betsy became an avid quilter. Through her love of quilting she forged friendships that were irreplaceable to Betsy. Her friends were devoted and stayed by her side, especially during this past year.

Betsy is survived by her two sons Matthew (Jackie), Patrick (Carla), 6 beautiful grandchildren Aeryn, Alec, Brooke, Phoebe, Ellie and Aniston, & great grandson Wyatt. Her sister Rose Mary (Charlie), brother, Charlie (Lisa), nephews, Charles, Bill, Jason and niece, Rebecca. Many cousins, great nieces and nephews, along with many precious friends.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, Richard, mother, Evelyn Davis, and Father, Charles Davis.

We are happy she is no longer suffering and now with the love of her life, Dick in heaven.

A Christian service, celebrating the life of Betsy, will be held, Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Ascension Lutheran Church in Casselberry, Florida. The family welcomes all to join them for a reception to celebrate some of Betsy’s favorite pastimes, good food and music, at Tuskawilla Country Club.
