DeLand police investigating shooting that claimed 21-year-old man’s life, injured woman

DeLand police officers are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 21-year-old man and injured a woman.

On Tuesday, November 1, DeLand Police Department officers responded to 809 Longview Avenue at approximately 10:47 p.m. in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 21-year-old man who had been shot to death. The man has not yet been identified by police.

Officers also found a 26-year-old woman who was suffering from gunshot wounds. That woman was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

DeLand Police Department detectives are currently following leads on two suspects that they believe were involved in the shooting. Based on their preliminary investigation, the crime does not appear to be a random act.
