Single-vehicle ATV, motorcycle accidents end fatally in Orange County

Separate, single-vehicle ATV and motorcycle accidents in Orange County this weekend claimed the lives of two, local residents.

According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the accidents both took place on Sunday, April 10.

The first took place around 1:50 a.m. on private property along East Colonial Drive in Christmas. A side-by-side ATV was being operated by a 22-year-old Christmas man, with three passengers onboard. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned onto its side, according to the FHP report

One of the passengers, a 22-year-old man from Haines City, was pinned under the ATV and later died at Waterford Lakes Emergency Room, according to the report.

A second incident took place around 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Wetherbee Road and Bisted Drive. A 33-year-old Orlando man was driving his motorcycle westbound on Wetherbee Road when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a curb.

The motorcycle left the roadway and the rider collided with a pole. He was pronounced deceased at AdventHealth in Kissimmee.

Both accidents remain under investigation.
