Barbara Joan Korsness

Barbara Joan Korsness, 83, of Lake Mary, Florida passed away on October 29, 2022. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska to parents, William and Marie (Kaffke) Johannsen on December 24, 1938.

In 1957, at age 18, Barbara joined the United States Navy and was an air traffic controller at Moffett Field in California until 1964. While in the Navy, she also worked in dispatch, helping sailors to get a flight back home or to their respective stations. She was kind, caring, and always willing to go the extra mile to help someone in need.

While at Moffett Field in California, Barbara met and married her soulmate Larol on October 3, 1964 and was blessed with three wonderful children. She was the bedrock of her family, the glue that held them together.

Barbara was a lover of all animals but was especially drawn to horses. She bred them, raised them, and showed them, which allowed her and her husband Larol to travel throughout the country and spend time in Peru. She was creative, writing seven novels with strong female characters, producing oil paintings, many of horses, and creating ceramic plates of Peruvian Pasos.

Barbara was a devout Catholic attending Nativity Catholic Church faithfully and volunteering in various capacities while she was able. She will be remembered as one who gave generously of her time and talent.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 58 wonderful years, Larol; her children Erik Korsness (Ret. Navy chief), Kimberly Noyes, and Brian Korsness; 6 grandchildren, Jessica Hogarth, Theresa Korsness, Loren Korsness, Brenna Korsness, Abigail Korsness, and Charles Salli; and 2 great grandchildren, Carson Korsness and Daizy Korsness.

Barbara will be truly missed by all.

A memorial service for Barbara will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Nativity Catholic Church, 3255 N Ronald Reagan Blvd, Longwood, FL 32750.
