18-year-old mother found dead in vehicle, Sanford Police looking for suspects

An 18-year-old mother was found dead from an apparent gunshot in Sanford last week and police are looking for answers.

Sanford Police Department officers found the body of 18-year-old Kaylin Fiengo on Friday, November 11, at around 11:20 p.m. while they were patrolling the area of Coastline Park, located at 900 West 9th Street.

Officers say they approached a vehicle that was running and backed into a parking spot when they discovered Fiengo in the front seat, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Authorities believe that Fiengo went to the location with the intent to meet a person known to her. The circumstances surrounding what occurred are still under investigation, but police say that the incident appears to be isolated.

“The senselessness of this type of violence is infuriating. Kaylin was a young mother who had her whole life ahead of her,” said Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith. “The violence and destruction won’t be tolerated in our community. I am confident that our residents will work with us to find the person responsible for Kaylin’s death.”

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Sanford Police Department at 407-688-5070, or the Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-8477. Any tips to Crimeline that lead to a potential arrest may be eligible for up to a $5,000 reward.
