Orange County nonprofits may apply for American Rescue Plan Act funds

Orange County is opening a new round of funding to assist small, local non-profits who experienced major disruptions due to the pandemic.

The Empowering Good program is an extension of the American Rescue Plan Act in Orange County that equips local nonprofits with the “tools necessary to succeed in the post-pandemic environment,” according to a statement from the county.

The program assists small, grassroots Orange County non-profit organizations and focuses on impacting measurement, innovation, financial management, fundraising, and risk management. Currently, 32 non-profit organizations are participating in the first cohort of the program.

The next cohort begins in March 2023, with applications open through January 13, 2023.

The first cohort includes organizations that reported major disruptions to their organizations during the pandemic in either their ability to deliver services, or a loss in revenue. Over four-fifths of the participating organizations are minority-led and/or female-led, and over three-fourths have a budget less than $250,000.

The county will host two information sessions for groups interested in learning more about the program before applying. For more information, or to sign up for one of those sessions, visit the Empowering Good website.
