A 28-year-old man who ran two stop signs in DeLand was arrested after police found in him possession of drug paraphernalia and an assault rifle.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputes and DeLand Police officers conducted a traffic stop on East Walts Avenue on Sunday, November 20, after observing a vehicle run through two stop signs.
Dominique Mancinone was detained at the intersection of East Beresford and South Amelia avenues while officers conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, detectives and a K-9 officer walked around the vehicle until the dog alerted to the odor of narcotics.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and drug paraphernalia was recovered. The paraphernalia tested positive for methamphetamine and oxycodone.
The trunk of the vehicle was also searched and, inside, authorities located a fully-loaded, orange AR-15 .223-caliber rifle and ammunition.
Mancinone is a convicted felon and is not permitted to be in possession of firearms. He was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. He was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail and was released on Monday, November 21 after posting bail.
