One injured in shooting at Wekiva High School

One person was injured by gunshots after reports of a shooting at Wekiva High School.

On Friday, January 6, Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the high school, located at 2501 Hiawassee Road in Apopka, after receiving calls regarding a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies found one person suffering from gunshot wounds. That person was taken to the hospital.

Deputies were unsuccessful in their search of the campus for potential suspects.

The shooting is the second of its kind at a high school in Orange County in the past two months. In November, 19-year-old Gamaine Patrick Brown was shot and killed after a playoff football game between Jones High School and Wekiva High School. Last month, those responsible for that shooting were taken into custody.

Anyone with information about the incident or those responsible is asked to contact the Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
