Son arrested, father wanted in Lake Mary wedding brawl

A son was arrested and a father is still wanted in connection with a brawl at a Lake Mary wedding that left one man seriously injured.

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested 21-year-old Julian Falkinburg on Friday, September 9, less than a week after he and his father, 38-year-old Joel O’Grady, were allegedly involved in fight at a wedding reception.

According to police, Falkinburg and O’Grady, both of Sanford, were attending a wedding reception in Lake Helen on Saturday, September 3, when they engaged in a fight with a third man while in the parking lot.

Police say that Falkinburg and O’Grady severely beat the victim, who was struck in the head and face multiple times, even after becoming unresponsive.

The two men fled the scene before deputies arrived.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. As of earlier this week, he remained in serious condition.

Falkinburg was booked into the Volusia County Jail just past midnight on Saturday, September 10, on a charge of aggravated battery. His bond was set at $50,000, according to court records.

Authorities are asking the public for help to locate O’Grady. If you see him, call 911, or notify police anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida by calling 888-277-8477.
