Wilma C. Adickes

Wilma Catherine Adickes, 94 years old, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022 surrounded by her family.

She was born July 22, 1927 in New York to Frank and Erna Riemann. She spent her childhood and young adult life loving New York City and working at her parent’s restaurant. She loved to dance and go to Broadway shows.

She first married Peter Martin with whom they had four wonderful children. Upon Peter’s passing she married Hoyt Richard Adickes and together they had three more children, raising seven children together in the same household. Hoyt & Wilma moved from New York, to North Carolina, and then onto Florida in 1969 where she spent her remaining years.

She loved her children dearly. She spent her days being a homemaker. She loved to sew, cook, and bake (her gingersnaps and butter cake were the best). She loved watching the news, clipping coupons, and reading her mystery novels. She loved animals and had a huge soft spot for cats and dogs. She spoiled them rotten and treated them just like her own children. She loved her flowers and plants. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t grow. She loved spending her weekends going to garage sales. When it came to shopping, her favorite store was Walmart. She faithfully donated to the ASPCA and to the Salvation Army.

She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. There wasn’t a thing she wouldn’t do for any of her family members. She was so proud of each and every one of them. She stated in her final wishes that her legacy and gift to this world were her 7 wonderful children.

Wilma is survived by her Sister: Mieka (Fred) Wheeler; Sons: Frederick (Pam) Martin and Frank Martin; Daughters: Judith (Fred) Mullis; Donna (Glenn) Boyd; and Terri (Robert) Gomer; Daughter-in-law, Jean Pearson;

Grandchildren: Amy Metz, Bradley Mondun, Scott Martin, Jennifer Adickes-Whealton, Daniel Pratt Jr., Jamie Martin, William Pratt III, Michael Pratt, Emma Pearson, Jennifer Hunter, Stacy Mullis, David Gomer, Jennifer Lloyd, Russell Gomer, Stephanie Doll, Emily Tutor, and Matt Boyd.

Great-Grandchildren: Christian Earp, Luke Metz, Harper Metz, Anna Cate Martin, Caris Martin, Daniel Pratt III, Kameron Pratt, Kyle Schroeder, Kevin Schroeder, and Kaylyn Catherine Pratt.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Erna Riemann; husband, Hoyt Richard Adickes; son, Robert Hoyt Adickes; daughter, Annamarie Adickes; grandsons, Jeffrey Mondun and Ryan Gomer; granddaughter, Tia Marie Schroeder; and her siblings, Walter Riemann and Frances Kovaleski.
