Chick’nCone closes Winter Park location

A chicken restaurant that opened its doors last April has permanently closed up shop due to personal reasons.

Chick’nCone announced the closure of its location 501 N Orlando Avenue, Suite 243, last week through social media, citing unspecified “personal reasons.”

“It is with sadness and a sense of changing times that we write this letter. After great consideration, we made the difficult decision to permanently close our doors,” reads the post.

Known for serving fried chicken in a waffle cone, the location opened in April 2022 was the first of the franchises’ nearly three dozen locations to open in Central Florida. With the closure, only three locations in south Florida are what remain of the brand in the Sunshine State.

“We had many dreams and goals of providing great-tasting food and the ultimate satisfaction of providing superior customer service. To achieve this, we worked tirelessly as a small family-owned business giving our best shot every day, where we took the greatest care to fulfill all the needs of our customers, and for this, every possible effort was taken,” reads the social media post.

The restaurant says it enjoyed “some success” in part due to its regular customers, but had to make the decision to close the business.

“All the thanks to our family, employees, friends, business associates, and loyal customers. We will never forget the amount of support we received as you will be forever in our hearts.”

In November, Popeyes closed its restaurant on Orlando Avenue, which was located just a mile south of Chickn’Cone. That closure came amidst a growing slate of competition with the additions of Chicken Guy, a franchise operated by chef Guy Fieri that opened its doors over the past year, as well as Chick-Fil-A and PDQ, which both opened just a few blocks away within the past five years.
