Rodent droppings lead to closure of Loading…Gastrobrunch

A restaurant that specializes in brunch was forced to temporarily close its doors after a health inspector cited multiple code violations, including the presence of rodent droppings.

Loading…Gastrobrunch, which is located at 1023 New York Avenue in St. Cloud, was temporarily shut down on Thursday, May 18, after an inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation cited at least 13 health code violations.

The report cited one high priority violation for the presence of rodent activity. During the inspection, at least 12 rat droppings were found in drawers at a wait station, while another 10 were found on a floor by the same wait station. Five droppings were also found on a floor in the same room as the ice machine and freezers.

Additionally, the menu featured poached and sunny side up eggs but did not disclose that those items contain raw or undercooked animal products as ingredients.

The restaurant was reinspected on Friday, May 19, and was permitted to reopen after only seven remaining violations were cited.
