Priscilla was educated in the Peekskill public school system attending Peekskill Elementary, High school and Queens Borough Community College. Priscilla finished her Associate of Arts in Nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years in New York City.
On August 30, 1952, she married Alfred A. Jenkins at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Peekskill, New York, a union that lasted until his death. The couple then settled in Jamaica, New York, where they lived until 2006.
Priscilla was a member of St. Clements Pope Catholic Church for many years. She faithfully served there as a Lunch Duty Volunteer, Fundraiser, Classroom Volunteer for Teachers in order for them to have school supplies and assisting students finish assignments. She was very active with the Roy Wilkins Dolphins Seniors at Roy Wilkens Community Center, where she organized the Art Center program.
Priscilla had many hobbies such as tennis, gardening and art. An avid artist, Priscilla had attended St. John’s University where she received a certification in the Arts. She will be remembered for her wisdom, generosity, kindness, soft spoken manner, love for the arts and education of her children. Priscilla entered many art competitions and received a 3rd place award from the Osceola County Center for Arts. She also displayed her art work at The City of Kissimmee City Hall for Black History Month and was recognized by the City Commissioners on her 90th birthday. Priscilla encouraged young artists to pursue their dreams.
Because of her husband’s declining health in 2001, and the need for constant care, Alfred and Priscilla relocated to Kissimmee, Florida, in 2006. They lived with their youngest daughter, Diane (and her husband, James) until she departed this life, peacefully on June 13, 2022.
