Lam’s Garden closed after rat droppings, insects found by health inspector

A local Chinese restaurant was closed down last week after a health inspector cited multiple code violations, including the presence of rodents and insects.

Lam’s Garden, which is located at 2505 E Colonial Drive, was forced to temporarily close its doors on Thursday, October 20, after failing a health inspection conducted by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

According to the report, the health inspector cited at least 14 violations during a visit last week. Those violations included four that are considered high priority.

Among those violations was the presence of rodent activity, as evidenced by at least 53 rodent droppings found around the restaurant. Those droppings were found around multiple food items and kitchen equipment, according to the report. Additionally, the health inspector cited live, flying insects in the food preparation and storage areas.

The business was permitted to reopen the following day after only six violations were cited.
